From the country-side of eastern Johnston County to Hollywood, Ava Gardner's Cinderella-style story continues to fascinate the young and old alike. Join visitors from around the world, October 3-5 at the Ava Gardner Festival to experience new exhibits on fashion, as the museum opens the "Ava's Closet" exhibit. The opening night "Fashion Fling" reception will feature Sinatra-style music from the Carolina Crooner, hors d'oeuvres and beverages. Tickets for the "Fashion Fling" are $25.00 per person.
On Saturday, visitors will also enjoy heritage tours to Ava's home and the teacherage (a home for single teachers) located in the Brogden Community where Ava lived as a child. And to continue the tribute to Ava's friend John Huston, film screenings of The Killers, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, and on Sunday one of his most famous works, The African Queen will show.
Also on Saturday, October 4, the museum has partnered with the Clayton Piano Festival which will featured classical music from the movies, and an interlude from Show Boat plus flamenco music, which Ava adored. Tickets for the concert are $20.00 and the museum is sponsoring a meet the artist reception with coffee and dessert following the performance.
